Emperor Qin Opera - Premiere Winter 2010
The Chinese Government and the ancient capital Xi’an (Shaanxi province, China) has commissioned Klaus to write the opera about Emperor Qin.
China's First Emperor's left the world groundbreaking achievements, an Empire lasting "1000 generations" for more than two millieniums, and his mythical Terracotta Army.
Emperor Qin unified China, introduced money and measurements, and left the Terracotta Warriors, dating from 210 BC, which were discovered in 1947 by some local farmers near Xi’an, close to his Mausoleum. The purpose of these warriors was to help rule another empire in Emperor Qin’s afterlife and to protect him throughout eternity.
The opera is scheduled to premiere Winter 2010 at the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage’s site monumental new development. It will be a spectacular show created by members of the Beijing Olympics Opening & Closing Ceremony creative team, on the largest stage ever built in China.
